WELCOME TO ICARE
Bringing Hope to the World
ABOUT OUR FOUNDATION
Advocating Change
iCARE is a non-profit organization established in Northern California , August 2018. The organization is mainly composed of young people from across North America. Its mission is to help children and young adults living in impoverished communities who are in urgent need of financial support by providing them material assistance and learning opportunities.
iCARE advocates equality and respect. It serves as a platform for interaction between young people around the world. Through caring for each other and growing together, the efforts will break geographical boundaries, and promote equality among people from different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
HOW WE HELP
Paving the Way to a Better Tomorrow
The Ase Village of Yushu in Tibet Autonomous Region, China is well known for its bad weather, poor systems of education, healthcare, and transportation. While we are enjoying the rich and diversified resources and information, the orphans in the Ase area are living in a monastery. Those children are struggling for warmth, food and shelter. iCare founded the Mingyue Hope Primary School(明玉希望小学)in the Ase Village to help orphans not only receive better education, but also communicate with other parts of the world in a more inclusive setting.
"MingYue Hope" translated from Chinese is "bright jade hope," which represents each individual of the school having a hope in their future as they receive help to reach their brightest potentials.
Currently, the Mingyue Hope Primary School has 53 boarding students (all being orphans), one Chinese language teacher, one Tibetan language teacher, and one general subject teacher. Every July, iCare's volunteers from North America visit the school to bring supplies for health, handicraft, and painting classes, and they also provide lessons themselves. These experiences allow the students and our volunteers to look past their differences in backgrounds in communicating with each other and give them a chance to form lasting friendships with each other.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our volunteers have not visited Mingyue Hope Primary School for the past two summers. However, they will resume their visits this summer.
Supporting Our Community
iCare helps host events for other volunteer teams, including the Silicon Valley Youth Leaders (SVYL), and matches the amount of money raised in their fundraising events. We also provide financial support for other students with scholarships ($2000 a year) to encourage them to continue to pursue their respectable acts of service.
In midst of the existing international disasters, iCare donates to charities in support of regions in need. Some activities we have helped host include a yard sale that raised over hundreds of dollars for charities in Ukraine, a panel spotlighting high-achieving seniors for them to share their valuable experiences with parents and high schoolers, and more.
